And the celebration doesn’t end on the course. The day comes together with a dinner, a silent and live auction, and awards, in the country club, to honor standout moments and generous contributions—all in recognition of 25 years of giving back through golf.
Buy a Day Golf Tournament
What started as “Buy a Day of Hope Charity Golf Tournament” back in 2003 by the Bennett family has became EDHAF’s BIGGEST fundraiser and most anticipated annual Fall event.
The Buy a Day tournament helps support local non-profits in the El Dorado Hills and surrounding area by distributing the tournament proceeds through a competitive non-profit grant process.
Held at the beautiful Serrano Country Club, the Buy a Day Charity Golf Tournament brings together golfers of all skill levels in a fun-filled day of sport and charity. Featuring tournament prizes, games and live auction.
How did "Buy A Day" get its name?
You have to go back 25 years to find the answer! In 2001, Cal Expo was used as an emergency shelter for women and children in Sacramento during the harsh winter months. Unfortunately, due to a lack of funding, the shelter often closed well before the inclement weather subsided, which forced families to find alternative housing options or face homelessness. The cost to provide shelter for an unhoused mother and her children was approximately $125 per day. To cover this cost, the first "Buy a Day" charity golf tournament was launched with golfers paying $125 to literally buy a day of shelter for families in desperate need of housing (sponsors covered green fees and other expenses). Over time, funds raised by the golf tournament were directed to a variety of local charities in the community. So, while the reach of the Buy a Day tournament has grown, the founding principle has never changed - to buy a day of hope for those families that need our support.
